It’s time to turn your back on the grey winter days and start to dream about bright colours that are this season staple. The colours this Spring are very sophisticated, wearable and completely modern. From deep plum, rich raspberry, ocean blue, mint green, lilac to citrus yellow, pick your shade and team it with white to balance your look . Be brave and drop a pop of colour into your wardrobe with a vibrant shoes, purse or bangles. There’s also hot new neutral colour – silver grey.

Flower prints are key trend for Spring and Summer. We could see small spring of meadow flowers as well as big blooms on the catwalk. It’s very dreamy, romantic and ultra feminine trend, but it’s good to keep it modern. Look for painterly blooms, bold colours and either extremely small or outsized prints. Angular cuts and exaggerated silhouettes also give a modern edge to retro florals. D&G featured chiffon layered floral print maxi dresses and oversized t-shirts for spring and summer 2008.

Etro spring 2008Hippie revival is the next trend for the season. We can call this trend a ‘new boho’, still hippy, but far more chic. New boho it’s all about light, neutral colours, bold shapes and textured fabrics. High-waisted flares and flowing maxi dresses are a key summer pieces. All the big names, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, D&G and Donna Karan looked back to the 1970s for spring. It’s easy to go for bold, natural inspired accessories to wear this trend, think chunky platform heel, wood, metal and bead cuffs and big bags in light colours. White clothes are very trendy this season. Look for white dresses, tops and even white pants that are the perfect match for spring’s bold blouses.

The new-season runways were full of romantic ruffles, frills, frothy tiers, chiffon and silk. This was best illustrated on John Galliano’s catwalk, where model wore 1930s-inspired pink tea dresses in chiffon adorned with sparkle, elegant coats with extra material to allow movement and floral maxi dresses. Luella showed punchy florals that give romantic ruffles a cool and sexy edge.Spring/Summer 2008 fashion trends Even the classic little black dress got a makeover with romantic ruffles and embellishments. Miu Miu, Sophia Kokosalakai and Temeprley all presented ruffles and frills adorned dresses in black.

The safari style is going to be big this spring and summer. Designers brought a new softness to the look by using lightweight suede, flyaway chiffon and layered tulle. Belted jackets, crisp shorts, high heels, natural make-up and smart styling will make the look urban cool.

Designers brought art school inspiration to life for the spring/summer 2008. We could see graphic smears and splashes in mix and match colours on the catwalks and they certainly give cocktail dresses edgy art school glamour. From punky paint splattered florals at D&G, to bold, light dresses at Chloe, everyone can find something interesting in this look.  

Gileas Deacon spring 2008This season we should follow the designers and take inspiration from the African prints, Japanese kimonos or saris from India. It’s all about the transcontinental traveller and global exchange of style. The runways were full of decorative looks, ethnic scarves, one-shoulder cuts and sophisticated, graphic prints. This multi cultural is a luxe take on amazing fabrics, incredible colours, embellishment and print.

Fashion is ready to have fun this season with Americana trend full of spots, stars and stripes. Both Chanel and YSL went all starry for their Spring/Summer 08 collections and it’s almost certain that the high street will follow the trend. Designers also had some fun with pop art, colourful iconography and cartoon capers this season. There were Bamibis at Giles Deacon and Vivienne Westwood, Batman motifs at Lulella and SpongeBob SquerePants at Louis Vuitton.

Spring and Summer 2008 season is all about femininity. Sheats of bearly there chiffon and flyaway organza and silk create the look that is light as air. Graphic cuts and splashes of colour keep the look fashionable and it works well in layers. You can invest in a sheer coat or jacket for evening to hint at a dress underneath.

Chanel Summer 2008Other key trend for spring and summer is the new tailoring that strips back to basics. Trousers suits with clean, narrow lines and a natural palette are very trendy. Cropped trousers that haven’t been seen since 1980s are a key trend this season. We could also see lots of full skirts on the runways that look good with a bomber jacket and pointy flats.

There is plenty to choose from as far as accessories are concerned. The It bag of the Spring and Summer is a clutch. Small, perfectly formed, bright and beautiful, it’s the key bag of the season. Extreme wedges, gladiator boots and peep-toes lead the way in the shoes department this Spring. Be brave and bold with other accessories like bangles, hats, belts and sunglasses. There are lots of spring’s decorative extras waiting for you.

Spring and summer are great seasons and this year you can surely find a trend to match your personality and your style. Be sexy, stylish and confident and create your unique looks for spring and summer. It’s not important what you’re wearing but the way you’re wearing it.
