Paris Fashion Week – Autumn/Winter 2007
Paris Fashion WeekAfter Milan Fashion Week has ended, winter 2007/08 fashion shows kicked off in Paris on Monday. Viktor & Rolf, Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Balmain, Balenciaga, Junya Watanabe, Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Ann Demeulemeester and Christian Dior are amongst those who have already showed their collections. Karl Lagerfeld, Andrew Gn, Akris, Valentino, Dries Van Noten, Christian Lacroix, Loewe, Sophia Kokosalaki, Veronique Branquinho, Givenchy and Hussein Chalayan are set off to show their ideas for Fall on Wednesday as a part of the third day of seven days of shows.

Eccentric styles have already been spotted during Paris Fashion Week. Viktor & Rolf have sent out models in dresses that were illuminated from within or hung from the light fittings above the catwalk among simple, sophisticatedly tailored clothes. “We wanted to emphasise how important the show is to us – so each outfit is a self-sufficient fashion show,” said Viktor & Rolf.

Vivienne Westwood has showed her ideas for autumn/winter 2007/2008 during a show entitled "Wake Up, Cave Girl" on Tuesday. John Galliano took to the stage the same day and brought back the Dior glory days with a very good show.

A key to the Dice Kayek collection for Fall was volume. Turkish-born designer Ece Ege, who runs the Dice Kayek label with her sister Ayse has showed skinny trousers, mini-skirts, leather tunics and silver chain-mail dress inspired by the Ottoman empire and the Japanese kimono during the show on Monday.

Rick Owens has showed his ideas for autumn and winter on Monday. His collection included hooded jackets, silk jersey dresses, hats in chunky knit and hairy goatskin ankle boots. “It was all about touch — real fur and fake fur, silhouettes and tails,” the designer said about his collection.

French designer Isabel Marant’s collection included linen skirts and cotton tunics, skinny trousers, mini-skirts and shorts. Huge fur hats were one of the few concession to winter during the show on Monday.

Paris Fashion Week is not slowing down, established names such as Chanel and Alexander McQueen will roll out their thoughts for what women should wear next autumn and winter.
