Swimwear designer Melissa Odabash to present line of dresses |
Former model Melissa Odabash, who has been designing swimwear which is worn by Uma Thurman, Helena Christensen and Sarah Jessica Parker, is now moving into designing dresses. The collection of dresses will be available in the Odabash’s first store, which will open in London in April.
“I have always wanted to design dresses and these are great for the summer holidays,” Melissa Odabash told Vogue. “I love lace, I don’t think it dates and it’s a beautiful, delicate fabric. I used a lot of gold, silver and white and one of my favourites is a yellow mini-dress that reminds me of the things my mother used to wear. The lace has a vintage tint and is hand-beaded – it’s absolutely stunning.”
“I wanted to create a range of easy, sexy outfits – no-brainers for when you’re on holiday - you sling it on over your bikini with flip-flops, or with heels for the evening and you’re done. I got sick of messing with separate tops and skirts and belts when I was on holiday, so one of my silk jersey dresses even has a thick leather belt that comes with it,” she added.
Melissa Odabash has been very successful in designing swimwear. Her collections have included flattering briefs, mini-shorts and halter tops, with cuts sporting buckles and cotton jerseys. Odabash’s suits are made for a variety of body types and make women look an feel good.
“Each swim-suit I design is like a work of art. The harmony between the designs and the female body needs to be complete in order to project the desired inner confidence and inspire admiration,” says Melissa Odabash.
