 Fans and bargain-hunters descended on Whitney Houston's warehouse sale and walked away with Versace beaded catsuit, six velvet jumpsuits, her WH insignia and 13 Dolce and Gabbana bras and other items. A court order forced the singer to put a selection of designer outfits, music equipment and awards up for auction after the storage company sued her for the $175,000 payment.
The singer’s items in the auction included keyboards, drums, Schimmel acrylic grand piano, drum kits, sound equipment, a multi-tier concert stage set, an elevator, a forklift truck, designer hats, shoes and outfits from well-known designers like Giorgio Armani and Jean Paul Gaultier. Bobby Brown’s fans had a chance to buy music awards won by Houston’s soon-to-be ex-husband.
Whitney Houston’s publicist Nancy Seltzer has commented that "It is not unusual for an artist to sell off old equipment and costumes no longer needed."
Whitney Houston, who used to be a fashion model has become a pop icon soon after her debut album was released in 1985. Singer continued her success well into the 1990s with the release of two successful studio albums and several films and corresponding soundtrack albums, the most popular of which was The Bodyguard, which produced very popular single ‘I will Always Love You’.
In the past years Houston’s personal life became the subject of controversy because of allegations of drug and alcohol abuse. Singer recently has been working on a comeback album and lately has made few public appearances.
