Supermodel Naomi Campbell pleads guilty to assault |
 Naomi Campbell pleaded guilty in Manhattan Criminal Court to hitting her housekeeper with a mobile phone over a pair of missing jeans in March 2006. Supermodel was sentenced to five days community service and ordered to attend a two-day anger management course.
In court, Naomi Campbell said: "I threw a cell phone in the apartment. The cell phone hit Ana. This was an accident because I did not intend to hit her.” After supermodel left the court she issued a statement in which she stated: "I pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in court today. That's the best way I know to say I'm sorry to Ana. I accepted responsibility and I'm prepared to take my punishment. But I'm not going to let this incident define me. The past is the past. My future holds great things and I'm getting on with my life."
Campbell’s layer, David Breitbart, told the judge that Naomi was due to model for fashion week in California, Brazil, London, Paris and Milan over the next few weeks and the judge agreed to give Ms. Campbell 120 days to complete her community service. Mr. Breitbart also asked that supermodel be allowed to do her community service inside rather than outside, saying that she had been the victim of a stalker and he was concerned for her security.
It isn’t the first time when the supermodel had problems because of her abusive behavior with employees. She pleaded guilty in Toronto to assault for hitting another assistant while she was making a film in Canada in 1998. Quite a few of her former employees have filed lawsuits accusing Campbell of assault.
Naomi Campbell’s career as a model started when she was 15. Since then she has appeared on the covers of fashion magazines all over the world and walked the catwalk for many fashion designers including Valentino and Gianni Versace.
