Supermodel Naomi Campbell continues community service in NYC |
Naomi Campbell, who was sentenced to five days work at a sanitation depot for assaulting her maid, began her community service in New York. Campbell is sweeping, mopping and cleaning offices and bathrooms inside the sanitation garage, away from cameras. The supermodel arrived at a sanitation garage on Monday wearing black leather stiletto Louboutin boots, skinny camel trousers and an A-line black coat.
 “Miss Campbell arrived on time to work. She came ready to work and we have plenty for her to do over the next five days,” Albert Durrell, deputy chief of the Department of Sanitation told reporters.
“Let me make this clear,” Durrell said. “This program has been in Manhattan for over a year now. We’ve had a couple of celebrities, but the bottom line is everyone is treated with respect and dignity and they have a job to do and they perform well at it. So far so good, we haven’t had any problems.”
Campbell wasn’t allowed to do the work in her designer clothes. Inside the warehouse the supermodel changed into her uniform: boots, dust mask, hair cap and orange safety vest.
According to the supermodel, hard work has never been a problem for her. “I’m from a Caribbean family. My grandmother raised all of us. I had to wash my underwear and my socks after school. I had to clean the table. I had to Hoover,” she told WWD.
The community service, along with a compulsory payment of US$185 and a two-day anger management course, was Campbell’s punishment for throwing a mobile phone at her maid, over a pair of missing jeans.
